Speed spit card game rules
Cards can be played if they are either one higher or lower in rank than the card played upon. If you run out of plays to make and have fewer than 5 cards in hand, draw from your stockpile and continue playing.
If both players reach an impasse and cannot make a play, despite having five cards in hand, slip one card face-up from the side piles on to the spit pile beside it. Continue doing this until one player is able to play. If these side piles run dry, take the cards from the spit pile below the top card , shuffle and create new side piles. Once a player has played all the cards in their hand and from their stockpile they have won the game! If you choose to score, winner receives one point for every card left in their opponents stockpile.
Set a target score to determine when game play ends. Using one hand and one card at a time, players may: Play a face-up card from a stockpile onto a spit pile. To do so, the card played must be one up or one below in sequence.
You may move a face-up card from the top of a stockpile to an empty space. You can not exceed five stockpiles. Cards count as soon as they are played and may not be retracted. END If there is only one spit pile, the first player to play all their stockpile cards does not get cards from the center. Some versions allow the player who gets rid of all the cards in their layout to choose which spit pile they want, there is no slapping.
There is also a variation which requires cards played on the spit pile must alternate in colors. When at least one player scores or more points, the game ends. The game requires a standard 52 playing card deck and is suitable for ages 6 and up. In Speed, 2s are low and Kings are high. Aces can either be lower than 2 or higher than King.
