Education program grants


















This program supports national level high-quality arts education projects and programs for children and youth, with special emphasis on serving students from low-income families and students with disabilities. Under the Replication and Expansion for High-Quality Charter Schools competition, CSP awards money to charter management organizations that have demonstrated success, including improved academic achievement.

Grant money may be used to expand enrollment of one or more existing charter schools, or to open one or more new charter schools based on the model for which the eligible applicant has presented evidence of success. Promise Neighborhoods, established under the legislative authority of the Fund for the Improvement of Education Program FIE , provides funding to support eligible entities, including 1 nonprofit organizations, which may include faith-based nonprofit organizations, 2 institutions of higher education, and 3 Indian tribes.

The vision of the program is that all children and youth growing up in Promise Neighborhoods have access to great schools and strong systems of family and community support that will prepare them to attain an excellent education and successfully transition to college and a career.

The purpose of Promise Neighborhoods is to significantly improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in our most distressed communities, and to transform those communities by—.

Who Can Apply Eligible Applicants: IHEs; public and private agencies and organizations including community-based organizations with experience in serving disadvantaged youth; secondary schools; and combinations of such institutions, agencies, and organizations.

If a private nonprofit organization other than an IHE applies for a HEP grant, that organization must plan the project in cooperation with an IHE and must propose to operate some aspects of the project with the facilities of that IHE. Eligible Participants: A student is eligible to receive a fellowship if the student— a 1 Is a citizen or national of the United States; or 2 Is a permanent resident of the United States; b Is accepted for enrollment or is enrolled- 1 In an institution receiving an allocation of fellowships; and 2 In a program that combines modern foreign language training with i area or international studies; or ii research and training in the international aspects of professional and other fields of study; c Shows potential for high academic achievement based on such indices as grade point average, class ranking, or similar measures that the Who Can Apply Eligible Applicants: Applicants that have the ability and capacity to conduct scientifically valid research are eligible to apply.
